Julie Petrusak is New York City based choreographer, instructor, and certified Personal Trainer. A self-declared “movement geek” Petrusak’s work is dedicated to celebrating the human body in motion. Training, teaching, and choreographing allows her to pursue her passion for movement, dance and fitness practically and artistically. A moving body is a happy body, and Petrusak strives to spread her joy and knowledge to her students, clients, and audiences alike.
Personal Training and Instructing:
Petrusak is a group fitness instructor and NASM Certified Personal Trainer. She has trained and taught extensively in barre fitness, high-intensity interval training, strength training and rebounding. Petrusak’s dance background and fitness experience allows her to offer her clients a well-rounded, diverse offering of expertise. Through group training sessions and privately tailored workouts, she strives to help her clients transform not just their bodies, but also their mind-body connection, positive self-image, overall well-being, and joy of movement and life.

Choreography and Directing:
Petrusak is the founder and artistic director of JP Dance Group. She earned her degree from the Ailey/Fordham B.F.A. in Dance Program, after studying ballet extensively at the Maryland Youth Ballet. As a choreographer, Ms. Petrusak strives to use dance to illustrate stories that resonate in the hearts and minds of her audience members. In Spring of 2013 she co-directed and choreographed three productions at Riverbank State Park’s Cultural Complex that reached over 1,000 New York City school children and senior citizens. She has presented work at various venues in New York City including the Ailey Citigroup Theater, Arron Davis Hall, Triskelion Arts Center, and Fashion Week 2013. In 2012, she Co-produced “New Works” at the TANK where she premiered her ghost story ballet, “Apparitions”. In 2010, she assisted Karen L. Arceneaux in setting Arceneaux’s “Chasing a Dream” on the Ailey/Fordham B.F.A class of 2014.
